Myself and Merve Terzi (photographer) have been running free camera workshops for young refugees at the ASB refugee shelter in Wilmersdorf, Berlin. We did Cyanotype workshops with the smaller children, Matchbox Pinhole Camera building with the older ones and made Camera Obscuras with all ages. The aim of these workshops, was to give the children an introduction to photography by teaching them about light and the basics of producing a photographic image, also giving them something useful and fun to do at the shelter. The workshops we did were a great success and we hope to return next month with new activities and more fun and learning.
